Artist Statement
Handcrafted with the finest Australian porcelain clays by artist Sarah Tracton and co-designed by Dr Ian Watkins, the Lucent Collection is an individualised fusion of fine art, one-of-a-kind craftsmanship and functional lighting design. The cordless design creates a streamlined and minimalist aesthetic. This light is a handcrafted product, using 100% Australian glazes, clays and LEDs. The handcrafting process in making this light involves pouring liquid clay, onto plaster slab. Slip is then poured layer by layer onto the slab, then the sheets are peeled away. The sheets are hand wet/dry sanded, clear glazes and fired twice final to stoneware temperatures of 1280 degrees. This specific light has been repaired with Kintsugi gold leaf (pictured) technique. The golden scars and cracks of the broken ceramic become the focus transforming the lights a one of a kind exquisite work of art, where broken ceramic become entirely unique as rivulets of gold.
Lucent Collection received a prestigious 2021 Good Design Award Winner accolade in the Product Design category in recognition for outstanding design and innovation.

Materials: Porcelain, gold leaf, supplied with suspension wire and fitted with Australian-made Coolon LEDs, which have a 5 year customer warranty and 50,000 hour time span.
